Kat is a queer identifying multidisciplinary arts practitioner, who is focused on building inclusive communities and engaged audiences.
Kat was the 2020 Creative Director of Sydney Mardi Gras, a 17-day LGBT+ multi arts festival and world-famous parade. In this role, Kat oversaw the creative direction and curation of all major events included in the festival and managed a team of LGBT specialists to realise an ambitious vision for an engaging and inclusive celebration of the many and varied identities that exist under the rainbow umbrella.
Kat is also the Creative Director and Founder of Heaps Gay, an award-winning arts and events organisation which creates outrageous and unforgettable events and experiences for the LGBT+ community and their allies. Some past highlights include the annual ROADWERK street parties, the opulent Qweens Ball at Sydney Town Hall during the VIVID Sydney program, among many others.
During the pandemic, Kat launched new ventures,Queer Agency a specialist creative and consultation service with a focus on lgbtqia+ audiences and voices & Summer Camp Festival, a new one day pride festival touring Australia in Oct 2022.
Kat sits on a number of cultural advisory panels including for the City of Sydney and Australian Festivals Association. Kat was recently on the core team who travelled to Athens and won Australia’s bid to host World Pride Sydney in 2023.
Kat’s has over a decade of experience working in agencies on creative campaigns, specialising in the music and youth market. As a business owner and freelance creative, she had collaborated with a wide range of businesses including high profile brands like Red Bull Music, Absolut Vodka, MTV, Westpac, Junkee Media & many arts orgnisations such as FBi Radio, Splendour In The Grass, Electronic Music Conference, Semi Permanent etc etc
